THE INAUGURAL MEF-BRUSSELS SPRING ROUNDTABLE 2009
Held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 30th April 2009, the MEF hosted the first of the MEF-EU Annual Roundtable Series.
The Roundtable was aimed to enhance the relevance and the spirit of Malaysia-EU cooperation, with a special accent on the economic and trade side.
The Roundtable was successful in creating an opportunity for greater awareness, better understanding and a potential for more economic collaborations between the Malaysia and EU. The timing for this event was particularly apt in light of the EU-ASEAN Free Trade talks.

GLOBAL EMERGING MARKETS SUMMIT (GEMS)
MEF has established Partnerships to convene the strategic Global Emerging Markets Summit (GEMS) – an institutionalized platform to serve the agenda of emerging markets - which has been successfully organized for two consecutive years.
Inaugurated in London in August 2008, GEMS provides a platform to establish the role of and prospects for emerging markets and for emerging market players to communicate their growth strategies.
GEMS 2009, held in April 2009, was a great success with high-level participation of 42 eminent speakers and moderators from 25 different emerging economies, who discussed various opportunities, issues and challenges pertaining to growth and economic recovery.
