The MEF Roundtable Series on Sustainability: ‘Future Cities – Urban Mobility’

The MEF continues to promote mutual understanding between Malaysia and Europe in areas of sustainable development, as well as provide an opportunity for stakeholders to strike a true strategic conversation about the shared challenges of living in a globalised world.

Under the auspices of The MEF Roundtable Series on Sustainability, from the 21st – 25th November 2011, the Malaysia-Europe Forum [MEF] hosted a series of roundtables in Madrid, Paris and London and focussed on the role an integrated and efficient transportation infrastructure system plays in the planning and roll-out of smart cities. Gathering together representatives from Malaysia, Spain, France and the UK, the roundtables saw participation from operators, regulators, technology providers, academics as well as representatives from government and NGOs. Ideas were exchanged, networks were expanded and challenges were discussed. Site visits to key transport hubs were also arranged and better bilateral understanding on best practices were forged.
